Inspection Workflow - Primary and Secondary Inspectors

Overview

Inertia Systems now allows QC users the option to assign an Inspection Request (IR) to two inspectors. This is useful when an inspection may involve multiple parties, such as a Secondary IOR or a Special Inspector. 

*Secondary Inspector is an optional field

Who Can Use This Feature

This feature is available to:

• Users opening IRs to the IOR team such as the General Contractor and Quality Control teams, and

• Users with permission to reassign inspections while the IR is in the Open stage/status such as Inspectors, Inspection Desk, and Special Inspectors. 

How It Works in Inertia

You can assign a secondary inspector in two ways:

1. When opening an IR to the IOR team

   • Select the Primary Inspector.

   • Optionally select a Secondary Inspector.

     

2. By reassigning an IR

   • Users with reassignment permissions can add or update the Secondary Inspector while the IR is in the Open status.

What Happens When a Secondary Inspector Is Assigned

• Both inspectors receive an email notification when they are assigned to the IR.

• Both inspectors can act as the assigned inspector, including reviewing and completing the inspection.

• Both names appear on the IR form and in the main IR list.

Notes

• The Secondary Inspector field is optional.

• It is intended for projects that require collaboration between multiple inspectors but is not required for standard inspections.
